Block your dates for this long-awaited endurance walking event, Let’s Take A Walk 2010, Saturday, 18 to Sunday, 19 December 2010. Let’s Take A Walk 2010 is an overnight endurance walkathon organised by a group of volunteers for anyone who are gamed to challenge themselves, in aid of helping the underprivileged youth in Singapore. It’s not a competition with others, but a personal challenge you set for yourself and your team and at the same time, a good deed you have done for others. This year, we hope to hope to raise $80,000 for Boy’s Town and Raleigh Society.
What makes this walk unique from the other walks?
1. It’s a first-ever endurance walking event in Singapore organised by volunteers for a good cause. Let’s Take A Walk 2010 will be the real test of your mental willpower and physical strength and for you to find like-minded friends or colleagues who would be gamed to take up this challenge with you.
2. The 50km PowerWalk and 100km ExtremeWalk are overnight walks and it’s a great chance to rally your buddies, colleagues and relatives and meet like-minded people and walk through the night. The 10km JalanWalk will take you through a combination of both quiet and bustling corners of the city and new hotspots such as Helix Bridge and Marina Bay Sands.
3. You will explore Singapore and the little nooks and corners of our sunny island that you may not otherwise know. We’ll tread through new park connectors, nature reserves, new hotspots and get a breeze of air-conditioned malls.
4. We have neither the carrot nor the stick to tempt you to part with your money to register for the walk. We will not aim to entice you with fanciful goody bag. It will be a bonus if generous sponsors come along to offer great goodies for the walkers. The Organising Committee Members are volunteers and are in this as we believe in the cause of Let’s Take A Walk. The less we spend in organising the walk, the more proceeds we can save for our cause. The registration fees you pay would be donated to Boys’ Town and Raleigh Society.
5. From September onwards, we will be organising a series of free training walks and walk clinics to gear you up for the actual walk. We welcome anyone and everyone. The first 10km training walk will be held on Saturday, 4 September and is free!
6. You can sign up for marathons with friends but the race to the finish point is still an individual’s challenge. For Let’s Take A Walk, it’s a group event. You can walk, to the endpoint with your best pals, hand-in-hand in triumph.
We hope these reasons are enough to convince you and rally your friends to be part of this meaningful walk.
Cheers to a walk for charity, friendship and an unforgettable walking experience you can clock as one of your major milestone achievements in 2010. Please help to spread the word to your friends and everyone who may be interested.
